Glory days, Virginia showed us the love.  By the nature of this location, there are still lots of hills but all were moderate today.  We still had a big day of climbing because the hills were constant.  The weather was perfect - sunny with temps in the 70’s.  The route took us through Mt Rogers National Recreation Park.  As I mentioned yesterday, Mt Rogers is the tallest mountain in VA.  The Park was peaceful and scenic as we cycled beside a stream with dappled light on the road.  The countryside is bucolic and neat and orderly.  The views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from these small farms are outstanding.  It was a pleasure cycling through this remote countryside.  We really enjoyed the company of our three guest riders from Jim’s company - EODT.  They were great sports, great guys and great cyclists.  We appreciated that they cycled with us for two days.  Stan Wroble and Mary Stafford remain with us to Yorktown.  Stan will cycle through all of VA.

We did view a first.  This home had a bunch of dogs that were ready to attack if only they could get down off the roof.  The photo tells all.

We still have three days of Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Mountains to cycle through, but the pull of the Atlantic is growing.  We have been planning the arrival celebration in Yorktown.  We hope to celebrate with several PKU families from this part of VA along with Tia, our guest riders, some local friends and our families.  We’ll be there next Saturday if we ride safely from here.

We heard this loud snarling and couldn\'t figure where it was coming from until we looked at the roof.

    Mr. M~

You have almost made it! I know it has been a while since my last post, so I wanted to make sure that I was able to reach out to you before this incredible journey has ended. Although the amazing thing you have done is only the beginning for PKU research. So it is absolutely not an end to a journey, but a beginning.

I have been honored to watch this ride take place and only wish that in my lifetime, I am able to take a journey such as this. You are a true inspiration!

    Much love,

    Amanda

Hey guys, can’t believe you are almost done…been so consumed with the markets, I missed checking in on the blog, but all caught up now. With all of the turmoil on Wall St., it’s great to see all of the good you are doing. After all of those weeks alone, it must be nice have such a big crew to finish the trip. In my daily email on friday, I noted that if the market had about a 400 point rally, then the markets would actually be even for the week…and it just about did…I had noted that if someone went away last Sunday, and came back on Saturday…or if some guys were biking across the country, and really didn’t have time to check the markets everyday and finally looked at a paper…you might have said, gee whats all the fuss about…well hopefully that was you all. Ok, as to Michigan, I call for them to win the rest of their games…yes I will sadly go down with the proverbial ship!!! Mary Stafford, you are truly a champ…22 years backing up Dick, and then there you are serving meals in Oregon…and then over to the east coast bringing the guys on home to the finish…kudos to you!! Well, I hope this week brings you cool weather, flat terrain, low grade hills, pleasant tail winds, sunny skies…but not too hot, and no dogs…see I’ve been paying attention!! I will check in during the week…soory for the ramble…Jordan.
